ANCILE AS

Terms of Use

Last updated: 2 July 2026

By downloading or using the Ancile app, you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance and Apple's Standard EULA

2. What Ancile is for

Ancile is a documentation tool for physical IT infrastructure — racks, devices, ports and cabling. It lets you capture, store and recall that documentation on-site. Ancile does not connect to, configure, or control the equipment it documents, and it is not a substitute for operational or troubleshooting judgement about live firewalls, switches, UPSs, or any other equipment: it does not give that advice, and must not be relied on for it. Where the app flags something for your attention (for example, a mismatch between what was documented and what you observe), the flag states a fact about your records — it never recommends a specific fix. You remain responsible for verifying real-world equipment state and for any configuration or operational decisions you make.

3. Your documentation

The infrastructure documentation you create in the app — including photos, notes and records — is yours to control. ANCILE AS claims no ownership of it, and you, or the organisation on whose behalf you use Ancile, retain whatever rights you have in it. It is stored only on your device; ANCILE AS keeps no copy of it and has no server that holds or gives ANCILE AS access to it. See our Privacy Policy for how this data is handled.

4. No warranty that documentation matches reality

Ancile records what you capture and enter. It does not independently verify that a record still matches the physical state of the equipment it describes, and physical infrastructure can change after a record is made. Your documentation reflects what was captured or last confirmed, not necessarily current real-world state, and to the extent permitted by law ANCILE AS gives no warranty, express or implied, that it does. Nothing in the app or these terms is a certification, inspection, or compliance determination for any regulatory or contractual purpose — you remain responsible for verifying your documentation against the physical installation before relying on it for such a purpose.

5. No credentials, no standing access to your systems

Ancile does not ask for, store, or use credentials for the systems you document, and it does not connect to that equipment. The app has no standing access to any customer system and is never a credential vault.

6. Data leaves only when you choose to export it

Your documentation leaves your device only when you take an explicit action to export or share it — as a CSV, Excel or PDF file, or, where such a feature is offered, a per-session transfer to another service that you authorise and initiate for that session. In every case ANCILE AS keeps no copy, has no standing access, and never transmits your documentation in the background or without an action from you.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, ANCILE AS is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. The limitations and exclusions of liability in Apple's Standard EULA, referenced in section 1, also apply to your use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Norwegian law, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway.

9. Changes

If these terms change, the updated version is posted here with a new date.
